Introduction to your swimming pool design…

Let’s give you an overview of your swimming pool design process. The basic skeleton: we take your rough sketches and ideas, turn them into a 3D design, and present you with professional plans that can be used by contractors to provide quotes for your pool. All of this is accomplished using Pool Studio.

What is Pool Studio?

A Computer Assisted Design (C.A.D.) software that will allow our expert designer to turn your sketches and ideas into a professional design. You yourself can make sketches or add your ideas to a photograph or even make bullet points of what you want your dream project to look like. Our designer will create a professional plan with a 3D design that can be used to quickly price your pool.

What exactly does Pool Studio do?

Everything! Pool Studio is fast and easy to use. This incredible software takes the 2D design created by you, inputted by our designer, and provides a 3D rendering with sound effects included! You can change the time of day and illuminate your pool with realistic lighting. The design is easily modified using this software so any changes you would like can be accomplished in a matter of minutes. Designs and plans are also easy to share! By the end of the design process you’ll have a fully-interactive, animated, 3D design of your pool complete with professional plans ready for the construction process!

Why use pool studio?

Pool Studio is the must-have software for any pool designer. It’s the ideal tool for a designer to use to show their client the pool of their dreams and give their client the best idea possible of what the pool will actually look like in their own backyard. You can even change the pool materials, for example the tiles or the plaster, and this will be shown in the 3D pool design so you can find the exact design that works for you. You will have the best idea of what your pool will look like before construction begins and can see any changes that need to be made. That’s so much better than trying to make changes once construction has already commenced!

 The basic design…

At the design briefing with the designer is where it all begins. We measure the dimensions of your backyard, the dimensions of your house and its location in your backyard, and the locations of any landscaping features that will remain. These are inputted into Pool Studio and appear on any future designs and plans.

Most pools take up roughly 25% of the existing backyard space and the deck usually takes up another 25%. This means that all in all most pool projects cover around 50% of the backyard. This will be shown in the computer animated designs and will allow you to think about what you’d like to do with the rest of the yard. Whether it’s landscaping, artificial grass, BBQ and outside kitchen area, trampoline, fire pits, Tiki torches, let your imagination run wild!

Pool Lighting Design

The right lighting can make any water feature sparkle! Underwater incandescent lights in the pool and spa cost around $300 per light and are an essential part of a beautiful (and safe) pool environment. Lighting can also be added to waterfalls, negative edges, spillways, or to illuminate bursts of water, as shown in the image. The most popular option for waterfall lighting is to install spotlights from above, which should be completed by a professional and cost approximately $500. LED lighting is also an option and while pricier (around $700-$1000 depending on the feature), LED lighting provides a brighter glow, has a much longer lifetime, and is more environmentally friendly! The visual effects produced by correct pool lighting are well worth the additional cost! pool designer swimming pool design

Why are LED lights the right choice for me?

LED lights are not light bulbs per say. Unlike traditional incandescent light bulbs that user a gas combined with a filament, LED lights are a form of solid-state lighting whereby the light is emitted from a piece of solid material that is not considered toxic. The construction of an LED light leads to a more physically durable and safe light source which is not warm to touch when turned on. Also, light is produced 90% more efficiently in an LED than in an incandescent light bulb which means a lower energy cost for you! You know that “ping” you hear when you flip a light switch and the light bulb burns out? You don’t hear that with an LED light because LED lights don’t burn out. Instead they merely dim over time. The lifetime of an LED light is therefore not measured according to when the light will burn out – the LED lifetime is based on when the brightness has decreased by 30%. For an average incandescent light bulb, the lifespan is 1000 hours: LED lights have a much longer lifespan of 25,000 hours! This also causes you less inconvenience and costs you less in the future in terms of maintenance and replacement. So, why should you use LED lighting? The answer is simple! Because LED lights are much more energy efficient, they have a much, MUCH, longer lifespan, require less maintenance, are more physically durable and cool to touch (safer), and are more environmentally friendly.
